Mayor Sun Shimura and Congresswoman Janice Salimbangon led the time capsule laying and groundbreaking ceremony of the new Daanbantayan Astrodome this afternoon, June 7, 2023.
Situated in Barangay Agujo, the facility has an estimated floor area of 2,000 square meters and a seating capacity of 5,700.
Phase 1 construction of the project amounting to P39,147,752.83 has been made possible through the efforts of Congresswoman Salimbangon.
Construction will start in the third week of June 2023 with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as the implementing agency and contractor Duros Development Corporation.
Present during the groundbreaking were SB Member Wendell Rosell, ABC Pres. Mark Anthony Luche, Poblacion Barangay Captain Melissa De Leon, Lanao Barangay Captain Elma Punay, MPDC Dale Mito Diano, Barangay officials of Poblacion and Lanao, Engr. Kevin Limalima of DPWH, and Engr. Mar Brian Mantuhac of Duros.
