A Hawksbill Sea Turtle was Released

A hawksbill sea turtle was released back into its natural habitat by Mayor Sun J. Shimura today, November 14. The turtle was released off the seawater of barangay Poblacion at sitio Mahayahay wharf.

Measuring 14 inches in length, 12 inches in width, and weighing 5 kilograms, the turtle was surrendered to Daanbantayan Police Station by fisherman Reymond Bug-ot who accidentally caught the endangered specie along the coast of sitio Bandilaan in barangay Bagay. It was then turned-over by police personnel led by Patrolman Jeramy Villanca to LGU thru the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Head Mamerto Q. Rodrigo.

The hawksbill sea turtle contained a geotag bearing serial number PH1213K and its flipside PCP-PAWB-DENR-QC-PHILS110.
