The culminating activity of the 3-day Bamboo and Native Tree Workshop happened on Thursday, November 21, with the distribution of certificates to the participants and resource speakers.
The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), headed by Mr. Mamerto Rodrigo, successfully conducted the workshop slated from November 19 to 21, 2024, highlighting the importance of bamboo and native trees in environmental protection and nursery management.
The activity brought together 60 participants who actively took part in various activities, including a tree-planting initiative held at Sitio DAR Bitoon, which is part of the San Pedro Sub-Watershed.
Supported by Mayor Sun Shimura, the workshop aimed at raising awareness on sustainable environmental practices and instilling a strong sense of environmental stewardship and accountability among community members.
The activity was graced by Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay, MENRO staff, and resource speakers from Bamboo Producers Cooperative: Maria Teresa Al-Motawa, Victor Enerio, and Ma. Gala Enerio. Workshop participants were representatives from the MDRRMO, Barangay Bantay Kalikasan (BBK), barangay councilors focused on environmental concerns, SK officials, and local farmers.
