In observance of the Elderly Filipino Week from October 1 to 7, 2024, officers and members of senior citizens associations from the 20 barangays gathered at the Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center on Monday, October 7.
Highlight of the celebration was the coronation of the Senior Citizen King and Queen, where Iutimo Rosas of barangay Pajo and Marilou Veloria from barangay Carnaza were crowned as grand winners.
In addition, our elders showcased their talent in singing and dancing. Group performers from barangays Bagay, Bakhawan, and Talisay delighted the crowd with energetic and joyful dance moves; while Juanito Yordan Jr., from barangay Logon captivated the audience with his vocal performance.
Over the years, Daanbantayan senior citizens have proven themselves to be resilient, wise, and deeply committed to the community. Their stories and experiences continue to enrich our lives and serve as a guide for the future. This event provided an opportunity to honor their lifelong achievements and express our appreciation for their contributions.
The Elderly Week celebration was graced by Mayor Sun Shimura, MSWDO Heide Aplece, OSCA Head Leticia Perpetua, Federation President Conchita Pitogo, and senior citizen chapter presidents.
