The 5th batch of drug surrenderees were commended for successfully completing their rehabilitation program during the graduation ceremony held today, September 21, 2023 at the Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center.
Certificates and relief goods were given to the 140 Community-Based Treatment (CBT) completers who have undergone monthly activities in their respective barangays which include completing modules, involving themselves to community service, trainings, and drug testing.
In their speeches, Mayor Sun Shimura and Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay were delighted to see the courage that the former drug offenders have shown to put their lives back on the right path.
ABC Pres. Mark Anthony Luche delivered an inspirational message from his personal experience as a former drug user, how substance abuse affected his life and family relationships; and his determination to change to become someone with purpose.
Two CBT completers also shared their personal journeys and how this rehabilitation and treatment program alongside prayers helped them get back to the right ways of life.
The program, spearheaded by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), aims to help drug offenders integrate back into society.
Present in the event were Deputy Carl Bryan Lozarita of Daanbantayan Police Station, DOH Development Management Officer Michelle Acosta-Yrogirog, MSWD personnel Joan Navares, Joana Paula Arreglo from RHU, MADAC Focal Grace Navarro, and barangay captains and officials.
