SUROY SUROY SUGBO IN DAANBANTAYAN
The Municipality of Daanbantayan headed by Mayor Sun Shimura warmly welcomed 800 guests of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Northern Escapade on Tuesday afternoon, January 17.
Foreign tourists, retirees and balikbayans, among others were on board 11 buses accompanied by local tour guides who provided guests with tidbits of information about the history, heritage, culture and tourist resources of our town.
Arriving Daanbantayan at past five in the afternoon, guests were greeted by municipal and barangay officials, LGU employees and Haladaya Festival dancers performed some dance routines.
Together with Gov. Gwen Garcia and Mayor Shimura, participants visited the Santa Rosa de Lima Parish–the first Archdiocesan shrine in the country–as well as the Capella de Santa Rosa de Lima where the original image of St. Rose is encased.
The delegates proceeded to Sunset Baywalk where they were entertained with folk songs and dances by local talents while enjoying the town’s famous delicacies and tasty snacks.
In his message, Mayor Shimura boasts of the town’s renowned diving destinations, beautiful beaches, and religious sites such as the St. Rose of Lima Parish and House of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Barangay Paypay.
The program ended with fireworks display, and delegates then headed to Medellin town to wrap up the day’s Suroy Suroy Sugbo Northern Escapade.
