The local government unit (LGU) thru the Municipal Tourism Office, Civil Security Office, and Municipal Health Office has taken proactive measures to prevent the entry of coronavirus disease. All guests and visitors travelling to Malapascua Island are required to undergo certain procedures at Roro Port.
Guests and visitors need to fill the Passenger Manifesto indicating their name, nationality, country of origin, resort to check in, among other things. At the same time, they will be scanned with thermal devices to measure their temperature. Those with symptoms such as high fever may undergo additional screening, and to stay in isolation and restrict contact with other people.
Mayor Sun J. Shimura also met with Malapascua resort and hotel owners today to discuss updates and the creation of a task force to address the widening outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Highlights of the meeting include the temporary travel ban on all tourists coming from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Travelers from other countries are allowed entry subject to mandatory procedures at Maya RoRo Port. Among other things, tourists are required to fill out the municipal health declaration card and undergo temperature test though a thermal device before boarding the boat to the island. Resorts must require their personnel to wear face masks and to monitor all their guests every morning to check if they are showing symptoms such as fever, coughs, and sore throats and to immediately inform MDRRMO if they notice such case.
In addition, Task Force Wuhan has been created to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. The task force is composed of the information dissemination team; surveillance & monitoring team; and the treatment team. In attendance during the consultative meeting were Sangguniang Bayan members, DOH, RHU, religious sector, DepEd, Tourism office, school heads, Coast Guard, and other stakeholders.
