Members of farmers and fishermen associations from different barangays were in full force yesterday, May 28, 2019 to participate in the culminating activity of Farmers and Fisherfolk Month celebration at the Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center.
The event kicked off with an early morning thanksgiving mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish, followed by a parade held along Burgos and Osmena streets. Attendees proceeded to the cultural center where an array of activities was held. Highlight of the program was the coronation of MAFC (Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council) Queen 2019. In the afternoon, participants were able to showcase their skills and talent in the net mending, quiz bee, food demo, folk dancing, balak (spoken poetry) and opm singing competitions. The celebration wrapped up with an awarding ceremony.
With the theme, “Responsableng Pagpanguma ug Pagpangisda..Yawe sa Malahutayong Panginabuhian ug Kaugmaran,” the observance of farmers and fisherfolk month was intiated by the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Municipal Agriculturist Maria Lina R. Jugan. Special guests in the culmination program were Municipal Councilors Brigette Tancawan and Ali Abucay.
