The Municipality of Daanbantayan bagged the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the highest recognition and the most prestigious award conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to LGUs that exhibit efficient leadership and outstanding public service.
Mayor Sun Shimura personally accepted the award during the ceremony held on Tuesday, December 10 at the Manila Hotel. Mayor Shimura was accompanied by MLGOO Grace Caburnay, LGOO VII Lelanie Lopez, MADAC Focal Grace Navarro, District 1 Supervisor Dr. Eva Casinillo, and District 2 Supervisor Dr. Necifora Rosales.
Daanbantayan passed the assessment criteria across various governance areas that serve basis for the award, namely financial administration; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and the arts; and youth development.
Daanbantayan received an SGLG marker and SGLG Incentive Fund worth P1,153,000 for winning this year’s coveted award–the 2nd time for our municipality after clinching its first-ever SGLG in 2023.
