The Municipality of Daanbantayan joins the nation in celebrating the 126th Philippine Independence Day at the grounds of the municipal plaza on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 with the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan (Freedom. Future. History).”
The ceremony was graced by Mayor Sun Shimura, Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay, Sangguniang Bayan members, municipal employees, teachers, PNP, Coast Guard, BFP, barangay officials, and various sectors, to pay homage to the men and women who bravely fought for our freedom. A parade, flag-raising and wreath-laying rites, as well as musical performances by CTU Hugyaw Dance Troup and CTU Glee Club form part of the celebration.
From the words of Mayor Shimura, “while it is essential to remember and learn from the past, it is equally important to remember the present and the future”. As such, we must pay tribute to the heroes of the present–our public servants. Through their selfless service of today’s generation is what keeps us moving forward together. A legacy that will be remembered in the near future.
