As an avenue to foster camaraderie and promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth; and to divert their attention from vices and bad habits, the Local Government Unit of Daanbantayan has organized the Mayor’s Cup tournament. This year’s edition of the annual sports event officially opened on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
Mayor Sun Shimura, Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay, SB Member Mark Anthony Luche, SB Member Jupiter Rosell, SB Member Marvi Loot Pinos, SB Member Maria Bregidorietta Tancawan, SB Member Simplicio Mantos, SKF Pres. Jade Earl Conag, and barangay officials graced the opening ceremony of Mayor’s Cup 2023.
The event started with a parade around the town proper. Afterwards, participants comprising local officials and players from different teams together with their muses proceeded to Poblacion Covered Court where the opening program was held.
Highlight of the program was the Search for Miss Mayor’s Cup 2023 wherein 20 muses representing their respective teams sashayed with grace and confidence before a jampacked crowd.
Hailed as Miss Mayor’s Cup 2023 was Carnny Cane Etcuban from Barangay Bitoon. Other winners were Genevieve Bronil of Barangay Bateria, 1st runner-up, Ma. Jaffa R. Tripoli from Barangay Bagay, second runner-up; Anne Dimple Dela Torre of Barangay Pajo, 3rd runner-up; and Jia Adria Rodrigo from Barangay Maya, 4th runner-up.
