The month-long celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Month concluded on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 with a culmination program held at the Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center.
Highlight of whole-day activity was the search for the first Miss 4-H Club Daanbantayan where 8 young, lovely and talented candidates competed in the production number, farm wear, talent, evening gown, and question and answer.
The 4H club is an acronym for ‘Head, Heart, Hands, and Health’ aimed at instilling among the youth the importance of knowing the different facets of agriculture, valuing it, participating in food production for food sustainability and eating healthy for a healthy body.
The Farmers and Fisherfolks Month celebration was initiated by the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by MAO-OIC Henry Rondina. Various programs and activities were conducted that included pets vaccination, distribution of fertilizer and corn seeds, distribution of farm equipment and fishing gear, seminar on poultry production and fish processing, and distribution of indemnity checks.
Present during the program were Mayor Sun Shimura, Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay, SB Member Jupjup Rosell, and officials from the Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. 5/31/2023
