The Municipality of Daanbantayan led by Mayor Sun Shimura and Vice Mayor Elver Ali Abucay together with SB members, municipal employees, barangay officials, school heads, educators, and personnel of line agencies celebrates the 125th Philippine Independence Day this morning, June 12, 2023.
The program starts with a Holy Mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish followed by a parade along the main roads of Barangay Poblacion, and culminates at the Municipal Plaza where the program proper takes place.
Wreath laying, musical performances, and remarks from local officials form part of the celebration. Guest speaker is environmental lawyer, legal consultant and law professor Atty Ben Cabrido, Jr.
The Philippine Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated every 12th of June to commemorate the declaration of the country’s independence from Spanish colonial rule on June 12, 1898.
