54 Couples Join Mass Wedding Ceremony

Fifty four (54) couples tied the knot in a mass civil wedding held Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center. Officiated by Mayor Sun J. Shimura, the free wedding was initiated by the local government unit thru the Local Civil Registrar with the aim of legitimizing the union of couples.

At the start of the ceremony, each pair was accorded their own moment when they walk down the aisle on the red carpet accompanied by classical processional songs that set the mood and atmosphere of the celebration. The wedding rite include cutting and feeding of cake, wine toasting, exchange of wedding rings, and the passing of unity coins or arras by the groom to his bride.

The 54 couples and their sponsors were provided free lunch and drinks and each pair received a complimentary cake. In addition, ten couples won thru a raffle draw a free one-night stay at Bougainvillea Garden Lodge courtesy of Mayor Shimura and Councilor Malou Pepito. One special couple that caught the attention of everyone was the 62-year old bride and 69-year old groom who signified their bond of eternal love after being together for 29 long years.
