The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Daanbantayan thru the Department of Health-Region VII has reported a significant number of 66 dengue cases from January 1, 2019 to February 8, 2019. At least 14 out of 20 barangays are affected, with the following breakdown of recorded cases;
In response, the municipal government thru the Local Chief Executive has directed the MHO and Barangay Officials in all 20 barangays to conduct a massive community-based dengue prevention and control mechanism. The MHO and barangay officials have initiated an interpersonal information dissemination campaign in different schools and households by encouraging everyone to participate in the clean-up drives to ensure that their surroundings are free from breeding places of mosquitoes.
Moreover, the Municipal Health Office, in coordination with DOH 7, has conducted misting operations to eliminate and destroy mosquitoes. The MHO has already conducted misting activities in barangays Poblacion and Agujo. They are set to intiate another misting operations by next week to barangays Tapilon, Maya, and Talisay.
The MHO and DOH have noted that of the 66 recorded dengue cases in Daanbanbantayan, there were no deaths reported.
