Turnover of Ambulance and Garbage Collection Vehicles

The blessing and turn-over ceremony of 13 garbage collection vehicles, 1 eco-police vehicle, and 1 ambulance happened today, March 27, 2019 at the front ground of the Municipal Hall.

The 4×2 pick-up type vehicles, which will be used for solid waste collection, were distributed to barangays Agujo, Bagay, Bateria, Bitoon, Calape, Dalingding, Malbago, Malingin, Maya, Pajo, Tapilon, Tinubdan, and Tominjao. In addition, the eco-police vehicle will be used by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office for pertinent purposes. Meanwhile, the new ambulance was acquired by LGU Daanbantayan thru the help of Cong. Benhur L. Salimbangon.

Gracing the important activity were Board Member Sun J. Shimura, SB Member Ali Abucay, SB Member Bridgette Tancawan, Municipal Administrator Rex Novabos, Municipal Treasurer Eva De Leon, MENRO Mamerto Rodrigo and barangay officials.

Housing Units Raffle

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Daanbantayan thru the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and National Housing Authority (NHA) conduct an orientation and raffle of housing units for qualified beneficiaries from Barangays Bakhawan, Bitoon, Dalingding, and Paypay today, March 20, 2019 at Lamberto R. Te Cultural Center.

A total of 750 housing units at Kandaya Homes II located in Barangay Paypay were raffled off to the beneficiaries who were victims of typhoon Yolanda as well as informal settlers and those living in the danger zones.

The NHA and LGU have allocated a total of 4,363 housing units located at various locations in Daanbantayan.

Measles Immunization

To address the measles outbreak in Daanbantayan with 12 cases reported from January 2019 through the present, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) in coordination with the Department of Health (DoH) is conducting a massive information dissemination and immunization campaigns to encourage parents of 6 months old to 59 months old children to get vaccinated.

Rural Health Unit personnel have made the rounds of every sitios to conduct house to house measles immunization activities in the barangays. The vaccination and monitoring activities will be done until end of March to contain the measles outbreak.

Raffle of Housing Units

A total of 2,213 housing units located at 3 housing sites have been raffled off to qualified beneficiaries last February 18, 19, & 26, 2019. The selection on who will occupy a certain block & lot number was determined through a raffle draw spearheaded by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and LGU Daanbantayan.

On February 18, at least 750 housing units for Green Heights 1 in Barangay Tominajo were given out; it was then followed by 463 units at Green Heights 2 in Barangay Calape last February 19; and on February 26, a total of 1,000 housing units at Lanao Unity Park Homes in Barangay Lanao were raffled off to the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries of the housing units were victims of typhoon Yolanda as well as informal settlers and those living in the danger zones.

Present during the orientation and raffle were Board Member Sun Shimura, representatives from the NHA and MSWD, and municipal officials.

Lambaklad 2nd Catch

On their 2nd hauling under the supervision of BFAR last February 22, 2019 (the first one happened on 21 February), fisherfolks comprising four associations were able to catch a total of 277 kilos of assorted fishes. Some of the fish catch–locally called halwantasik, pompalo, tanigue, bahaul–weigh as much as 31 kilos and 1.5 meters long.

The Lambaklad project is an environmentally friendly fishing method initiated by BFAR and LGU Daanbantayan thru the Office of the Mayor and Municipal Agriculture Office. This P2.65 million project aims of providing another livelihood for small-scale fishermen to augment their income.
