Green Sea Turtle Released Into the Ocean

A green sea turtle was released back to its natural habitat by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) head Mamerto Q. Rodrigo today, June 6, 2019.

Measuring 17 inches in length, 14 inches in width, and weighing 15 kilograms, the green sea turtle was confiscated by Daanbantayan Police Station personnel from a fisherman after receiving reports that the latter was in possession of the endangered specie.

The green sea turtle is one of the 7 species of marine turtles listed under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as Vulnerable, Endangered or Critically Endangered.
